Something wicked has taken root in downtown Oshawa… SCARECROW LANE, a brand-new Oshawa Halloween Boo Bash spooky art experience where local artists unleash their wildest, weirdest, and most wonderfully terrifying creations. Stroll down Victoria Lane and come face-to-face with 12 larger-than-life scarecrows, each one a haunting work of art. Packed with creepy charm, killer photo ops, and cornfield nightmares, this is one pathway you won’t want to stray too far off of.

Scarecrow Lane — Artist Terms & Conditions

By joining the lane, you agree to the following spooky fine print:

🪓 1. Keep It Original (No Copy-Cat Creeps)

All scarecrow builds must be your own wicked creation. Think Halloween, harvest, horror, or storybook spooky. Keep it eerie, weird, other-worldy but family-friendly, Boo Bash is for monsters of all ages.

🧱 2. Build It To Survive The Night

You’re responsible for designing, building, installing, and removing your scarecrow immediately at the end of the night (10 pm). It must be sturdy, weather-resistant and able to haunt the lane for the full event run, wind, rain, or zombie apocalypse.

🔥 3. No Actual Danger (Fake Scary Only)

No open flames, exposed blades, or hazardous materials. If it can actually hurt someone… it’s too real. Keep the terror theatrical. You CAN employ motors for moving parts and smoke effects. Blood and mild gore is allowed. If you are unsure if you'll be too extreme, contact Chris at chris@citrusmedia.com

👻 4. Public Display = Public Risk

Your scarecrow will be displayed outdoors in a high-traffic area. While we’ll have watchful eyes roaming, Boo Bash isn’t liable for damage, mischief, or midnight monster tampering. It's outdoor downtown Oshawa, not a gallery.

📸 5. Lights, Camera, Nightmares

By participating, you grant Oshawa Halloween Boo Bash, Oshawa Tourism and associated partners permission to photograph and film your installation for promo, social, and future event marketing. We’ll credit artists whenever possible, it's all about exposing local art and culture to the masses. Your name is kinda a big deal!

🏆 6. Bragging Rights Pending

Art is not a competition, but public engagement is important to us. Each scarecrow will have a poster with the Artist name, their sponsor and a QR code to the landing page where the community can vote for their favourite scarecrow. Categories and voting details will be announced. Organizers of the event have the final decision… even if your scarecrow threatens them.

🧹 7. Set-up and Strike Before The Spirits Do

All installations must be assembled and in place no later than 12:00 PM. You will have access to the Scarecrow Lane environment from 7:00 AM onward. All installations must be removed by the official tear-down deadline. Saturday, October 17th, 2026, no later than 11:00 PM. Anything left behind may be claimed by Oshawa Halloween Boo Bash, or the void aka disposed of.

🕸️ 8. Don’t Be A Monster (Unless It’s Your Display)

Treat staff, guests, and fellow Artists with respect. We’re building a scream-worthy experience together. Art and culture is growing in Oshawa and we're all on the same team!

Only those selected for participation will be contacted. We respect and appreciate everyones interest. Now go forth… and make Oshawa proud, petrified, and selfie-obsessed. 🎃

We humbly ask, if you can, please bring a non-perishable food item and/or hygiene items (such as toothpaste, soap, baby wipes) and/or new unwrapped (Christmas) toy to our designated donation drop off point because need is a very scary thing! Thank you.
